It depends on the type of work you’re doing. How much extra output can I expect from a mill or lathe fitted with ProtoTRAK? And we are committed to support them all the way.

We believe our customers bought their ProtoTRAK to enhance their productivity over the full life of the product. XYZ carries full spares for every one of the 15,000 ProtoTRAKs ever sold in Europe. How long will XYZ support me with ProtoTRAK spares? Our best confirmation of this system is that we have sold over 7500 machines since we introduced them in 1984 and most have been sold as repeat orders and are producing good parts today. All machines are fitted with European bearings, hand scraped to ensure the highest degree of accuracy, ball bar tested and laser calibrated. Our parent company, Southwestern Industries, and we are actively engaged in the design, specification and quality of the machines imported from Taiwan. Our business represents about 90 percent of their production so they have tailored their quality and standards to levels expected by European engineers. Most of XYZ’s machines come from one supplier with whom we have done business for over 23 years. How do I know XYZ machines are built to a standard I can rely on? Programmes can be transferred to and from the ProtoTRAK via a floppy disk, a USB thumb drive or an Ethernet Port. RS232 is now considered old fashioned, slow and not particularly reliable. How are programmes transferred on the Siemens and ProtoTRAK controls?Īlthough the Siemens control is equipped with a RS232 Port, it also comes with a much superior Ethernet Port. No! However, ProtoTRAK will accept programs created on CAD/CAM for sophisticated 3D jobs. If you can operate either machine fitted with ProtoTRAK it will only take a few moments to familiarise your self with the other type.ĭo you need a CAM system to program ProtoTRAK? bin/RepairParts/floppy_emulator_stick.Are the mill and lathe controls the same?

As the emulator initializes it displays a series of numbers, then, if the buttons are still held down, it begins counting up to 999. If you need to format a new USB stick, it can be formatted in the emulator by depressing both buttons on the emulator’s face while powering it up. Don’t reformat it, because you may need to use one of the hard drive setup disks. The USB stick that came with your emulator is ready to use. A label attached to the stick identifies the different setup disks.

Disks 8 - 13 are system disks, and disk 14 is an update disk for the various execs. Disks 1 - 7 are formatted as a hard drive setup disks, which can be used to reformat a failed hard drive. The emulator is shipped with a USB stick that’s already formatted for use.ĭisk 0 in the virtual stack is blank floppy, ready for use as backup. Selecting a different number on the display is exactly the same, from the CNC’s point of view, as removing one disk and inserting another. Pressing both buttons at once increments the 100’s digit. The right button increments the 1’s digit of the display, and the left button increments the 10’s digit.
The emulator treats a properly formatted USB stick as a “stack” of 1.44MB floppy disks, which you can select via the two buttons on the face of the unit.
